Week Four

Before I begin, I would really like to thank the designers of this blog for putting in the frequent autosave feature! It saved my life tonight.  I typed out my whole entry for the week and before I clicked "post" my computer shut down Explorer.  Thankfully I was able to retrieve the draft that this blog program autosaved for me.  PHEW!

Mondays seem to be a better day to update, so I think that's what I'll do for now.  This week I fortunately/unfortunately went back to some habits I don't particularly care for, but for good reason.  I reconnected with Shawn and Tanesha this week at parties/social events on Tuesday and Friday respectively.  It was like old times--a bit too much like old times.  So much that I had to call out of work on Wednesday.  Oh well, it's the holidays.  I also reconnected with Lori on Wednesday at Jannie.  That was fun.

I kicked off my vacation by going to dinner with Margaret and Denise Thursday at Noble in Rittenhouse Square/Market Street West section of town.  The service wasn't as bad as the manager's/owner's behavior.  The only good thing there was the gnocchi.  They were steamed, then broiled in butter.  They were slightly browned and had a crunch when I bit into them, but oh so moist and creamy on the inside.  They didn't serve them with any sauce, which I though was weird.  However, after eating them they certainly didn't need sauce.

I went to an Open House for the EPA on Friday morning.  It was nice feeling somewhat qualified.  I don't think I'm going to get the job though.  Only six positons and there were at least 100 people there.  Not to mention that there was another session coming in the afternoon with I'm sure another boat load of people.  I applied...oh well, we'll see!

I dropped off the TD elf hats at the GSC office for the Drexel holiday party Saturday, after of course working for a few hours (yes I said work and that I was on vacation).  I had Jason help me with the box.  I am concerned about Jason. He had an incident happen to him early Wednesday morning.  I think he is getting too out of control with his "habits." I know I don't understand addiction, but I don't think he understands that he is heading down a very dismal road if he doesn't seriously get help.

Tom is really getting the house in ship-shape condition for the holidays.  I really appreciate all his hard work.  I myself am doing some holidays prep work, which is the picture of the week.  I practiced making an apple pie, completely from scratch.  Very strange Thanksgiving this year.  I'm not hosting.  Instead Tom and I are going to a friend's house for Thanksgiving.  I am bringing raviolis and two pies: apple and pumpkin.  The pie turned out pretty good.  I just want to make the crust a bit thinner and ease up on the nutmeg in the apple pie.  I made pumpkin pie last year that was divine.  Looking forward to a slice of that!

I am also pleased that my parents are moving.  I hated where they lived since it was so deserted and scary.  I went by today and saw where they are going to be moving.  I like it much better.  On a busier road and not so run down looking.  They are planning to move mid-December.  I will be helping them as best I can.  I'm really thankful that they have been blessed with such nice landlords.  I wish I could really help them out more financially.  One day...
